As their name would suggest, the range of the Florida Red Belly Turtle's range is mostly in Florida, extending into southern Georgia. They are mostly herbivores. Like some other turtles, they are brightly colored as juveniles, and then later become more drab in color. They can be found in a variety of aquatic habitats.
In captivity they can be fed comercial pellets, and are considered a good 'starter' turtle.
